The Centre

KU James Cahill Preschool, located in Waterloo is within walking distance from both Redfern & Green Square train stations and Sydney buses. Open between 8am - 5pm Monday and Friday, the centre has specially designed indoor and outdoor spaces which encourages children to explore and learn within a nurturing environment and is a fun, unique place to work.

KU James Cahill specialise in relationships and attachment theory and incorporate Circle of Security and Marte Meo into their daily program.

The Role

We currently have an exciting position available for a fully qualified Early Childhood Teacher with experience and ability to lead and manage a room supporting educators with program development.

*Experience with or a special interest in Circle of Security and Marte Meo theories is highly desirable.

This position will see you working 24 hours per week; 8 hours per day Monday to Wednesday on a parental leave contract until September 2020.

*This position requires the successful applicant to be the 'Teacher In Charge' on Wednesdays so previous experience in a similar role and knowledge of the requirements are essential. 

What we're looking for?

We want you to be as passionate about early childhood education and as committed to achieving positive outcomes as we are. In addition, you will have:

  • A current NSW Working with Children Check
  • Work rights to enable you to work in Australia
  • A recognised Early Childhood Teaching degree level of qualification in Early Childhood or similar as approved by Australian Children’s Education and Quality Authority (ACECQA)
  • Teacher Accreditation through NESA
  • Completed training in Child Protection legislation and its implications for the care and protection of children (CHCPRT001 - Identify and respond to children and young people at risk or CHCPRT002 - Support the rights and safety of children and young people)
  • A current First Aid certificate as approved by ACECQA along with current approved Asthma and Anaphylaxis Management certificates
  • Sound understanding of the Education and Care Services National Law (2010) and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011) and how they apply in your state
  • Working knowledge of the Early Years Learning Frameworks (EYLF) 
  • Professional level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated computer literacy skills
